Description:

Begin your journey in the peaceful village of Ouirgane, surrounded by red-earth hills, ancient olive groves, and the calm beauty of the Ouirgane Valley. Before starting the hike, you will visit the Ouirgane Barrage, a scenic man-made lake created to support local irrigation and provide water to the surrounding villages. Over the years, the lake has become a peaceful natural haven, surrounded by red mountains, birds, and olive fields, offering a beautiful and tranquil start to your adventure.

Next, visit a local Amazigh women’s cooperative, where you can watch traditional Berber carpets being handwoven using techniques passed down through generations. The cooperative also displays a variety of handmade souvenirs and local products available for purchase.

From there, your hike continues along gentle trails leading through juniper forests, terraced fields, and traditional stone-built Amazigh villages. This route is calm, scenic, and ideal for hikers who want an authentic nature experience far from tourist crowds. Along the way, enjoy mint tea with locals and soak in the valley’s blend of greenery and red-earth landscapes.

Your day ends with a home-cooked tajine lunch at Zahra’s Berber home, where you will also have the chance to learn how to make traditional tanourt bread, baked the Amazigh way. This is a warm, authentic cultural experience that brings the day to a perfect close.
